In a rare moment since their Kapamilya transfer, music veteran Jaya and "birit queen" Jona shared the stage for an energetic number on "It's Showtime" Tuesday, and as expected, spurred jokes about their shared history as co-performers on a rival program.

The two singers performed "Can't Take My Eyes Off Of You" as an intermission during the penultimate week of "Tawag ng Tanghalan," volleying high notes to the applause of the studio audience.

Their performance was a familiar sight to long-time fans, particularly those who have followed them since their "SOP" days. The GMA-7 concert variety show, which competed with ABS-CBN's "ASAP," ran for 13 years until 2010. Jaya was one of its original main hosts, while Jona joined the show in 2005.

Their history goes a bit further, however. Jona won the debut 2004 season of "Pinoy Pop Superstar," a talent search also produced by GMA-7, where Jaya was one of the judges.

Jaya and Jona's reunion on "It's Showtime" was not lost on host Vhong Navarro, who made a quip about the two being former "SOP" mainstays, along with "Tawag ng Tanghalan" judge Kyla, who was also in the studio.

Jona signed with ABS-CBN in February 2016; Jaya became a Kapamilya five months later.
