It was a dream that began in the dark, quite literally. There were constant blackouts where he grew up in his hometown in Batangas, causing Philip Galit to turn to his imagination for entertainment.

Making shadow images and puppets with nothing but his hands and a candle was his go-to hobby whenever the power went down. Little did he know then that this would also earn him his ticket to one of the biggest stages in Asia -- the grand finals of "Asia's Got Talent."

His performance, which could win him the cash prize of $100,000 (more than P5 million), was aired this Thursday -- and it drew nothing but praise from the judges.

Galit, who goes by the name Shadow Ace, went for a mixed bag, one that tried to tickle the funny bone as well as deliver an inspiring message about rising above the harsh judgement of others.

The judges' comments revolved around what he said before, which was how his dream began in the dark but now it's out in the light.

David Foster said that this was inspirational in many ways because most of the ideas are born inside our heads, which, he pointed out, are akin to a dark room.

"It's a blank page and you turn into something," the music icon told Galit. "I can guarantee you that every single one of this audience couldn't wait what was going to happen in your performance."

Galit was one of the finalists from the Philippines, alongside dance acts Junior Good Vibes and Power Duo.
