MANILA -- Tenten's (Enrique Gil) love for Serena (Liza Soberano) was a burden for him for quite some time. He tried to keep it to himself, in hopes that it will eventually fade away.

But instead of vanishing, it continued to grow and became too difficult to hide. One calm night, Tenten took the risk of losing their friendship and told Serena, "Mahal na mahal kita."

It was a tough decision for him. He knew he would be putting their friendship at risk.

"Ewan ko ba kasi, sa dinami-dami ng tao sa mundo, e bakit sayo pa bumagal ang ikot ng mundo ko? Bakit sa 'yo pa umawit ang mga ibon? Bakit ikaw pa ang nagdala ng liwanag sa isip ko?" he asked, without expecting any reply.

He knew Serena's commitments to her family. It was the main thing that kept him quiet from the very first day they were reunited. But at least, now, he is finally free from hesitation, fear, and doubts.

Sadness filled Serena.

Although she knows and admits that she can return Tenten's love for her, she must say no for now. Marrying Giancarlo (Matteo Guidicelli) is her last chance to save the Marchesa family from bankruptcy.

"It all happened, Tenten. Harapin nalang natin ang sitwasyon na ito. Even if I wanted to, hindi puwede. Alam mo naman kung bakit. Patawarin mo ako, I already made a promise that I would give Giancarlo a chance," she told Tenten in hope that it would somehow ease the pain.

Surely, however, the pain will not wane in an instant. It will take an indefinite time-- months, years, decades, and even a lifetime. Much love and trust have already been invested. All these, however, are all worthless now that they have to live life apart.

"Trust me, Simon. It's never going to be the same again. Every time I look at you, I will think 'this guy wants to kiss me,'" Serena said.

Upon hearing Serena's heartbreaking reply, Tenten suggested that they should stop seeing each other. He knew well that he has a broken heart to mend and a family to support. Serena, on the other hand, has a promise to fulfill and a man to marry.

Even though they both know that their separation will be long, they believe that, one day, they can finally be friends again.

"Kasalanan mo kasi eh, hindi ka kasi mahirap mahalin," Tenten said.

"No, kasalanan mo kaya. Madali ka palang magmahal," Serena replied.
