MANILA – Jonalyn Viray, who is now known as Jona, clarified on Tuesday that she remains grateful to GMA-7, which managed her career for a decade before she transferred to ABS-CBN in February.

“Maayos po kaming nakipag-usap sa GMA Network," she said in an interview on “Tonight with Boy Abunda.”

"First of all, gusto ko po talaga linawin na sa 10 years po na pinagsamahan namin, sobrang nagpapasalamat po ako sa lahat ng mga experiences ko with them, sa naging [pag-alaga] po nila sa akin,” she said.

However, Jona explained that she also wants to grow as an artist.

“Ang Star Music, may nai-present po sila na magagandang projects for me. 'Yun po ang naging deciding point na ito na po ang panahon,” she said.

Asked if she felt scared when she finally decided to move to ABS-CBN, Jona saod: “I admit nagkaroon po ako ng mga certain na pakiramdam like takot pero inisip ko po na this is a big move for me. Dapat isantabi ko ang takot at mag-look forward sa kung ano 'yung brighter side.”

Jona’s first project with the Kapamilya network was to record the theme song of the ABS-CBN series "We Will Survive," which debuted on February 29.

She’s also a part of the songwriting competition Himig Handog, which will hold its finals night on April 24 at the KIA Theater in Cubao.
