MANILA - Veteran actress Cherie Gil made an apology on Wednesday after admitting that she had not heard of teen star Liza Soberano prior to working with her on the upcoming primetime series, "Dolce Amore."

In a press conference, the 52-year-old Gil shared: "I haven't had the chance to meet her [Soberano]. She was a fresh name to me, in fact."

In the series, Gil plays the mother of Soberano's character. She described her role as that of a "strict mother" who co-owns a "very big telecom in Italy" with her husband, to be portrayed by Italian actor Ruben Maria Soriquez.

Asked about how it was like working with Soberano, Gil praised the young actress for her dedication to her craft and in learning how to properly speak the Italian language for her role. "Masipag si Liza," she said.

Aside from Gil and Soberano, "Dolce Amore" will also star Enrique Gil, Matteo Guidicelli, Sunshine Cruz, Edgar Mortiz, Kean Cipriano, and Andrew E. It will be directed by Cathy Garcia-Molina and Mae Czarina Cruz-Alviar.
