MANILA — Star Cinema on Thursday released the first trailer of “James & Pat & Dave,” giving a glimpse of what happened to James after the events of “Vince & Kath & James.”

The sequel to the 2016 blockbuster sees Ronnie Alonte reprising his titular role, this time with his real-life girlfriend Loisa Andalio as Pat, and newcomer Donny Pangilinan as Dave.

In the trailer, James is sent to a rural area by his mother to “straighten” his life, taking on a temporary job at a resort where he meets Pat, a co-worker.

The instant attraction between James and Pat encounters a complication when the latter’s ex-boyfriend, Dave, returns to win her heart back.

Like in the original — where Joshua Garcia’s Vince and Julia Barretto’s Kath end up together — James again figures in a love triangle.

Theodore Boborol returns as director for the sequel, which is scheduled for a nationwide release on February 12.
