MANILA - Mark Anthony Fernandez is aware of the numerous "reports" that went viral on social media, alleging he impregnated two police officers during his time in jail.

The 39-year-old actor was released from Pampanga Provincial Jail in San Fernando, Pampanga in December 2017, after a year of imprisonment for marijuana possession.

The former matinee idol is turning a new leaf with the new year, as he signed a contract with Viva Artists Agency on Thursday.

Speaking with reporters after the contract signing, Fernandez was asked for his reaction to the rumor of his supposed affair with two female cops.

The "report" even included a photo of Fernandez with the two officers, and quoted the actor's former girlfriend, film star Claudine Barretto, as having confirmed the pregnancies in an interview with ABS-CBN News' Mario Dumaual.

Barretto has since denied talking with Dumaual, who was among the press members who interviewed Fernandez Thursday at the Viva headquarters in Pasig.

"I was a victim of fake news," he told Dumaual.

He added, in jest: "Sana po totoo, pero hindi po totoo. Ang gaganda po, e. Ang gaganda po nila. They're not even my acquaintance. It's not true. They were beautiful."
