It has been a month since Mars Ravelo’s Darna aired its super finale. And if you miss Jane de Leon, here’s your chance to catch up with the actress!

Jane was invited by Vicki Belo and Hayden Kho for an interview in their recent vlog where they probed into her past lovers, ideal guy, insecurities, and how life has changed since she became Darna.

Vicki mentioned that from the timid girl they met years ago, Jane now is more confident. She’s more comfortable opening up to them. Here, she talked about the pain of losing her father to lung cancer and forcing herself to shoulder a bigger responsibility for the family at a young age. Though it still stings to this day, her happy thought is that she learned a lot from her dad about being organized and money-smart.

No doubt, she isn’t materialistic because of her father’s example. Jane plans to build her dream house soon, and it’s going to be minimalist and cozy, one that she would look forward to going home to after an exhausting day at work. She also plans to invest in businesses, considering that showbiz isn’t forever.

The intriguing part tackled Jane’s romantic history, dating back to when she was 16. She met this actor, a guest in "Kapamilya Deal or No Deal" at the time, during her workshop in ABS-CBN. The guy showed kindness and effort, though they didn’t move past the MU (mutual understanding) stage partly because of their eight-year gap and she still lived in Laguna then. It wasn’t a formal relationship but they had closure. They bumped into each other again in 2021, and Jane can say they’re good friends. Without mentioning names, Vicki and Hayden hinted that the guy has been to their house and that he is a true gentleman.

There was another actor who captured her heart for his being caring. In fact, she only saw her good side. Jane didn’t go into the details of their breakup but hinted that she gave him another chance. Clue: Hayden described this guy as “maganda ang katawan.”

Her next relationship was a secret even to her circle of friends. She liked this guy for being supportive. Unfortunately, her role as Darna was one of the reasons they broke up.

“Pagdating kasi sa dream guy, hindi naman lahat ng gusto mo sa lalaki makukuha mo. Minsan, kung sino pa 'yung makakatuluyan mo, at the end of the day, ‘yun pa ‘yung mga ayaw mo sa lalaki,” she related when asked her ideal partner. Jane said that her ex-boyfriends are all nice and caring, but some things aren’t meant to be. And instead of feeling bitter, she’s grateful for the lessons brought by these romantic experiences.

Jane went on to discuss her mental health, admitting that on some days she would feel anxious about work and being the family’s breadwinner, “Ang hirap ng walang dad. I need to be strong for my family.” Somehow she relates to her character Narda, who would rather suffer in silence than see her loved ones hurt.

Speaking of which, she revealed that bashing does affect her sometimes. The criticisms she got after she was announced as Darna led to moments of self-doubt. She has insecurities as well, such as her height, chubby cheeks, and fierce set of eyes that makes her appear ‘suplada.’ But, strong as she is, Jane learned to turn all these into motivation to prove her worth and faith in God. She also learned that the best way to overcome these is to acknowledge her feelings and have friends with whom she can share without judgment.

Jane mentioned that her mom wishes to see her settle down at 30. At the moment, though, she feels there’s a lot more to accomplish. She’s just starting. This 2023, she will start loving herself more, stop thinking and worrying too much, and she will continue serving God.

To cap it off, Vicki and Hayden gifted Jane with a new phone. And they were surprised to know that she still uses the old model they gave her years ago.
