Kingdom - Taking place in 16th century Joseon (modern-day Korea) and only three years after the Imjin War, Kingdom blends political thriller with captivating elements from zombie horror. It follows Lee Chang (Ju Ji-hoon), the Crown Prince of Joseon, who attempts to investigate the mysterious illness afflicting his father, the King, only to find himself right in the middle of a deadly epidemic ravaging the kingdom. As he tries to save his country from the plague, he must also hinder his opportunistic enemies from seizing the throne.Netflix

Kingdom - The Kingdom franchise has been a popular one, with a prequel film starring Jun Ji-Hyun as Ashin airing just last year, so we can't imagine why you might not have already watched this series. Whether or not you have, though, you'll be in for a thrilling ride with fantastic effects, chilling scenes, and wonderful writing. After all, few dew zombie better than South Korea, wouldn't you agree?Watch 'Kingdom' only on Netflix.Netflix

The Ghost Detective - This crime drama follows Detective Lee Da-il (Choi Daniel) who catches ghosts as he tries to solve the case of his assistant, Jang Yeo-wool (Park Eun-bin) whose younger sibling mysteriously passed away. Along the way, he finds himself always running into a mysterious woman in red named Sunwoo Hey (Lee Ji-ah) at every crime scene.KBS

The Ghost Detective - We love the versatility Park Eun-bin has shown in her career and enjoyed watching her play Detective Lee's assistant. Watch 'The Ghost Detective' on Viu .KBS

Sweet Home - After a sudden tragedy in his family life, Cha Hyun-soo (Song Kang) must leave his home and move into an apartment. Soon after, monsters begin to appear. People inside the apartment are trapped inside the building, realizing that monsters are lurking everywhere outside. Along with the other residents, Hyun-su must think of ways they can all shield themselves inside the building in the hope of surviving as long as they can.Netflix

Sweet Home - The webtoon-turned-Neflix series dropped its first season in December 2020, and already, seasons 2 and 3 are already in the works. Watch 'Sweet Home' on Netflix.Netflix

Happiness - Another apocalyptic thriller so soon after Sweet Home? Why not? Happiness is a thrilling, 'real' K-drama that imagines a time where an infectious disease has become the new norm, turning everyone into flesh-eating monsters. Starring Park Hyung-sik and Han Hyo-joo play Jung Yi-hyun and Yoon Sae-bom who face seemingly insurmountable challenges in keeping themselves, and those around them, safe.

Happiness - This series is shorter than your usual K-drama at 12 episodes but it provides a hell of a ride, should you decide to take it. Watch Happiness on both Netflix and Viu.

The Master’s Sun - Of course this list has room for a horror romance K-drama, especially if it's a classic like 'The Master's Sun'! Written by the Hong sisters, the drama follows Joo Joong-won (So Ji-sub) the cold and distant CEO of a conglomerate when he meets the gloomy Tae Gong-ship (Gong Hyo-Jin) who began to see ghosts after an accident. Her remedy to seeing ghosts everywhere happens to be Joong-won—making her be him to allow her to stay by his side. He agrees, as long as she helps hm recover a fortune that was stolen from him years ago.

The Master’s Sun - Okay, so we'll be honest here: this drama might not be the scariest at all but we sure did melt quite often with the moments brought about avoiding ghosts (on the part of Gon-shil.) Watch The Master's Sun on Netflix and Viu.

The Guest - Mysterious powers cause crimes to take place and a psychic, a Catholic priest, and a detective find themselves embroiled in solving and fighting against these crimes together. Yoon Hwa-pyung (Kim Dong-wook) is a psychic, born to a shaman family, and is always trying to expel the evil spirits. Meanwhile, Choi Yoon (Kim Jae-wook) is the Catholic priest who is a well-known exorcist. Finally, Kang Kil-young (Jung Eun-chae) is the detective who doesn't believe in either evil spirits or exorcisms, but her views soon change after she meets these two.OCN

The Guest - Exorcisms, evil spirits, and cynics? Count us in. Watch 'The Guest' on Netflix.OCN

Hellbound - What would you do if you knew you were destined for hell? Moreover, what would you do if you knew just exactly how much time you had on earth until you had to go there? Hellbound is a dark fantasy series directed by Yeon Sang-Ho that anchors itself in just that very question and premise as supernatural beings come out of nowhere, condemn people to Hell, and seemingly incinerate them into ashes (as they are supposedly transported to hell). It stars a stellar cast of Yoo Ah-in, Kim Hyun-joo, Park Jeong-min, Won Jin-ah and Yang Ik-june, and already has a season 2 in the works.Netflix

Hellbound - While obviously the three hulking supernatural monsters that perform the 'demonstration' are scary, we found the cult-like organization 'New Truth Society' and gang-like organization 'Arrowhead' to be the truly scary elements to this story—showing that mankind often chooses evil and harm to others when faced with many of its fears.Netflix

Hellbound - Yoo Ah-in as Jeong Jin-soo, the enigmatic cult leader of the emerging New Truth Society also adds a layer of creepy to the spine-chilling story because there is so much mystery that surrounds him all throughout the six episodes. Well done, Yoo Ah-in!Watch Hellbound on Netflix.Netflix

All Of Us Are Dead - South Korea has done it again with the zombie genre with this one, no doubt. All Of Us Are Dead is a coming-of-age zombie apocalypse thriller series mostly takes place at a high school and follows several students as they do everything they can to outrun and outlast the virus and their infected peers. With no food or water, and communication cut-off by the government, they must use equipment around the school to protect themselves in the midst of a battleground or they will become just one of the many infected.Netflix

All Of Us Are Dead - It's fast paced and we can't help but root for these kids as they try to outsmart and outlast the zombies that have overrun the school in time for them to get rescued. As the story progresses, we also find out more about thi virus and just how much of a person is even left when they die and succumb to the virus.Netflix

Tale of The Nine-Tailed - This horror list of K-dramas to watch this spooky season wouldn't be complete without a fantasy drama about gumihos and mountain spirits! Following Lee Yeon (Lee Dong-Wook), who was once the mountain spirit of Baekdudaegan, Tale of the Nine-Tailed brings to life the different stories of South Korean folk tales and mythologies, including this particular nine-tailed fox. Through the eyes of Nam Ji-A (Jo Bo-Ah) who is a producer on a show who seeks out stories on the supernatural, we glimpse the different kinds of Korean folk tales and myths.

Tale of The Nine-Tailed - We mentioned how we loved the special effects in this fantasy K-drama before, and how they reminded us so much of Twilight, but it still begs to be noted that the SFX are on point. We also loved how Lee Dong Wook was able to make his character equal parts steely and charming, and we fall for him just as easy as Ji-A does.

Tale of The Nine-Tailed - We're not going to lie, Kim Bum playing Lee Rang, Lee Yeon's estranged brother, is one of the bigger reasons we gravitate to this fantasy supernatural K-drama any time we're asked to list. He plays the mischievous Lee Rang so well, you have to see it for yourself if you haven't watched this one yet.Watch Tale of the Nine-Tailed on Viu and Netflix.

A Korean Odyssey - A modern spin-off of the Chinese classic 16th-century novel Journey to the West, A Korean Odyssey is a fantasy K-drama that follows Son Oh-gong (Lee Seung-gi( and Woo Ma-wang (Cha Seung-wn) who are in conflict with each other as both seek for a true light in a dark world where evil thrives. From there, Oh-gong is bound to his protective role over Jin Seon-mi (Oh Yeon-se), the little girl he met all those years ago. Having made contact with Seon-mi years ago, entitling her to seek help from him whenever she calls on him in exchange for letting him free, the two meet again in a fateful encounter.tvN

A Korean Odyssey - Son Oh-gong is the Great Sage Equal to Heaven (based on Sun Wukong), an extremely powerful immortal who was exiled to the human world with his powers sealed due to his mischievous nature. As he finds his way back into Seon-mi's life, his true love, he finds out she also has the ability to see ghosts. Watch A Korean Odyssey on Viu and Netflix.

Black - Starring Song Seung-heon and Go Ara, Black follows the story of a grim reaper who is forced to track down his fugitive partner. In the process, he uncovers the truth about a series of cold case murders from twenty years ago. Soon, he finds that investigating these murders complicates the reaper's primary role of guiding the deceased to their respective afterlives. Things get especially complicated when he falls in love with a mortal woman—which leads him to break supernatural rules against involvement in human affairs.OCN

Black - Go Ara stars as Kang Ha-ram, the woman the reaper eventually falls in love with. She has the unique power to foresee death as a dark shadow looming over someone which turns out to be a grim reaper following them to their moment of death. Watch Black on Netflix.OCN

The Cursed - Thriller, mystery, and horror come together in one K-drama such as 'The Cursed'—an underrated horror K-drama that also touches on the question of what is good and evil. The Cursed is about a teenage girl who has the ability to bring death by using names, photos and belongings, and a just social issues reporter, fighting against the massive evil hidden behind an IT conglomerate.

The Cursed - Jung Ji-so plays Baek So-jin, a teenage girl who is possessed by a spirit, which lets her have a special ability. Watch 'The Cursed' on Netflix.

Goedam - When night falls on this city, shadows and spirits come alive in this horror anthology series focused on urban legends. We love the gore and body horror tropes, and Geodam delivers a loooot of it.Netflix

Goedam - If you're a little short on time to get spooked, Goedam is for you. At just eight episodes with each episode at 7 to 15 minutes a pop, it won't take long for you to be consumed by these bite-sized horror stories.Watch Goedam on Netflix.Netflix
