MANILA - The Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas presented a 7,500-Piso gold coin and a 750-Piso silver coin to President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. on Tuesday, to celebrate 75 years of central banking in the Philippines.

BSP Governor Eli Remolona Jr presented the commemorative coins to Marcos at Malacañang.

The obverse side of both the gold and silver non-circulation legal tender coins features the Intendencia, also known as the Aduana Building, located in Intramuros, Manila. This building served as the first headquarters of the Central Bank of the Philippines, the central bank said.

On the reverse side, the coins show markings of the year “1949,” the 75th-anniversary logo in color, the inscription “CELEBRATING 75 YEARS OF CENTRAL BANKING IN THE PHILIPPINES,” the BSP Seal, and the year “2024.”

The BSP said the designs highlight the diamond anniversary, marking 75 years of central banking in the country.

The rare, collectible coins were minted with a mirror-like finish, utilizing the latest digital printing technology.

The BSP said it will announce, through its social media channels, when the commemorative coins will be available for purchase online via the BSP Store.

On Monday, the BSP also highlighted the 100,000-Piso banknote to mark National Heroes Day.
