MANILA -- San Miguel Corporation topped the list of Philippine companies on Fortune's first-ever Southeast Asia 500 list.

On its website, Fortune said the companies were ranked based on their total revenues as of the end of 2023. 

All companies must have published financial data, and reported all or part of these to a government agency.

Fortune said they compiled the list as businesses start paying closer attention to Southeast Asia.

"Southeast Asian economies are benefiting from supply chain diversification as rapid domestic development builds the next wave of global middle class consumers," Fortune noted.

Singapore-based Trafigura Group, one of the world's biggest suppliers of oil and petroleum products, metals, minerals, and other commodities, is the top company in Fortune's Southeast Asia 500.
