In a statement, Angkas said its emergency response protocol now includes 24/7 coverage by responding emergency medical technicians (EMTs).

The EMTs are expected to respond within 15 to 30 minutes.

Aside from this, the app said it also collaborated with hospitals and ambulance networks, including certified EMTs.

“We've broadened our training, acquired new equipment, and refined our skills to better handle potential emergencies,” said Marlon Abilong, Angkas’ ERT lead.

“Initially, we established clinics in Cainta and Makati where bikers and their families can get checkups… Secondly, we are rolling out basic life support and first aid training for all our bikers,” Abilong added.

Once the biker receives an emergency report via its hotline or support team, they would be able to find the location and check the situation. This is when the EMT is dispatched for response.

The ride-hailing app’s ERT program is operational so far in Metro Manila, Cagayan de Oro, and Cebu City.
