MANILA - The Social Security System is running after P4.8 million worth of delinquencies by several employers in Quezon City.

In its Run Against Contribution Evaders campaign on Friday, SSS NCR North Division sent out notices of violation to 10 employers in Novaliches.

Fernando Nicolas, Vice President of SSS NCR North Division, said these employers were found to be non-compliant in paying the SSS contributions of their employees.

“Pinagbabasehan yung laki ng delinquency and recency kung kailan sila nagstart maging delinquent. If hindi nakapagremit ang employer, may epekto sa benepisyo ng miyembro,” Nicolas said.

Employers visited by SSS in Novaliches were in the business of manufacturing, food, construction, and education.

Some representatives of these businesses said they were unable to remit because of low profitability after the COVID-19 pandemic.

SSS Senior Vice President for NCR Operations Maria Rita Aguja meanwhile cited the lack of digitalization literacy as one of the reasons employers fail to remit contributions.

Aguja mentioned that aside from employers, many employees with existing loans have also yet to settle their obligations to SSS since the pandemic.

“Marami ang nag-avail sa atin na hindi nakapagbayad ng utang. Reminding all our employers to remind their employees also to settle their loan obligations and sa employers to bayaran din ang kanilang share ng contributions para makapag-avail naman ang ating mga empleyado with regards to benefits na kailangan nilang i-avail,” Aguja said.

Delinquent employers are given 15 days to comply after receiving the notice of violation. Failure to comply or settle their obligations can lead to legal actions by the SSS.

SSS said it also offers installments for contributions.

The agency also encouraged businesses that suffered losses to avail of the condonation program.
