Independent analytics firm Opensignal officially awards Smart Communications, Inc. (Smart) for delivering the Philippines' best 5G Coverage and 5G Availability at the 2024 Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Spain. In the photo are (from left): Lloyd R. MANILA -- Smart has the best 5G coverage and availability in the Philippines, according to independent analytics firm Opensignal.

Opensignal's latest Mobile Network Experience Report, which measured 5G coverage and availability from July to September 2023, said Smart dominate in five categories, namely 5G availability, coverage, download speed, upload speed, and overall download speed.  

The network has won every 5G Availability award since Opensignal’s first report on the Filipino 5G experience in October 2021, it said. 

Smart said its 5G coverage allows customers to easily upload photos and videos to social media, play mobile games, and live-stream content without interruption.

Smart is the mobile services arm of PLDT, which has a fiber infrastructure spanning 1.1 million kilometers as of September 2023.

PLDT reported a 10 percent increase in its net income in the first half of 2023.
