MANILA - Universal Robina Corporation has broken ground for its new manufacturing plant in Malvar, Batangas.

URC president and CEO Irwin Lee said the plant will have state-of-the-art technology that will reduce material resource inputs, production wastage, labor efforts, energy, and water consumption.

He added that many of the new, high-quality products URC would introduce in the coming years would be made in Malvar.

The 30.7-hectare plant will have solar panels and make use of as much natural lighting and ventilation as possible. It will also maximize rainwater recovery and the reuse of wastewater.

In a statement, URC said the construction of the manufacturing plant will begin this year and expansion will span some 10 to 15 years.
