MANILA - The Bureau of Internal Revenue on Thursday reminded online sellers to comply with the agency’s registration and tax remittance rules, as it warned that it would suspend operations of non-compliant online stores under their Online Kandado program.

BIR Commissioner Romeo Lumagui Jr. made the statement ahead of the expected increase in online store sales during the Christmas holidays.

He said that all online stores are mandated to register with the BIR, whether their operations are big or small.

Pero kinakailangan na magrehistro tayo sa BIR,” Lumagui said in a televisedbriefing.

Lumagui said the BIR has an online registration portal that makes it easier for business owners to register with the BIR.

He said the agency is communicating with giant online selling platforms to remind them of their responsibility to monitor the compliance of their sellers.

“Nakikipag-ugnayan tayo sa mga online selling platforms. Sinisiguro natin na naiintindihan nila ang kanilang obligasyon para imonitor ang mga accredited online sellers nila,” he said.
