MANILA -- The New NAIA Infrastructure Corp. (NNIC) said almost 88 percent of flights arrived on time during the All Saints' Day break.
Departure on-time performance, meanwhile, was at 75.46 percent between October 29 and November 4, which the new airport operator was "slightly below standard." The NNIC said 932,405 passengers passed through the country's main gateway on 5,627 flights during the Undas break--record volumes not seen in the last four years.

But the airport said flight delays were caused by breakdowns of lower deck loaders of airlines--the equipment carriers use to load and unload baggage from their cargo hold. NNIC also said airlines lacked staff during the All Saints' Day break.

Moving forward, the operator said it will soon provide passengers real-time updates and clear information on flight and baggage delays through the airport’s public address (PA) system.

"These timely updates can help reduce passenger anxiety and confusion, allowing them to make informed decisions," the NNIC said. "By providing direct, accurate information, passengers will receive the full picture, without resorting to getting second-hand, unverified information from social media and other sources."

The NNIC said it will also produce publish monthly performance reports that will attribute the root causes of any flight and baggage delays to the responsible stakeholders, thereby promoting accountability among the government and private entities working at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA).
