MANILA - The Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas launched a website for the Financial Inclusion Strategies Committee on Wednesday.

The website is aimed to be a one-stop-stop and go-to resource for financial inclusion and financial help.  As an inter-agency body committed to financially include all Filipinos to build financial resilience, the Financial Inclusion Steering Committee created the website to be a main information hub for financial inclusion resources, financial education, and to increase access to financial services.

“The Financial Inclusion Committee’s goal is for all Filipinos not only to have a transaction account but also for them who already have accounts to achieve life goals such as owning a home, starting a business, saving for education, emergencies, and retirement,” BSP Deputy Governor Bernadette Romulo-Puyat said in a speech.

The FISC website provides learning resources for financial education and comic series explaining economic and financial concepts such as inflation.

Consumers can also read on how to protect themselves from scam and fraud and report consumer protection issues in the BSP Consumer Assistance Channels and Chatbot.

Also included in the website are dedicated spaces for agriculture and MSME resources that can aid in finding financing programs.

In 2021, BSP’s financial inclusion survey showed 56 percent of adults in the Philippines have a bank account.

The central bank’s target is to reach 70 percent by 2024.

BSP Governor Eli Remolona said that aside from financial inclusion, the BSP wants to promote financial health to the population.

“Financial health is a newer aspiration beyond financial inclusion. It means you don’t have to have a bank account but can still meet financial obligations, save and invest for the future, and bounce back in case of shocks,” Remolona said.
