MANILA -- The Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) has boosted airport security ahead of the All Saints Day break.

In a statement, the CAAP said they are implementing heightened security measures from October 25 to November 10 in preparation for the expected surge in the number of passengers.

"We have implemented a 'no-leave policy' for our staff to maintain the highest standards of safety, reliability, and comfort throughout this busy travel period," said CAAP Director General Capt. Manuel Antonio Tamayo.

CAAP also said Malasakit Help Desks have been set up to help passengers, and medical teams are on standby in case of emergencies.

The private operator of the Ninoy Aquino International Airport, meanwhile, said it is working with both government agencies and airlines to make sure that passengers can smoothly check in before they travel.

The New NAIA Infra Corporation (NNIC) said it is working with airline companies to encourage early check-in counter openings, allowing passengers more time for check-in and reducing queuing times during peak hours.

The NNIC also said it is speaking with transportation service providers to make more vehicles available, making it easier for passengers to arrive at and leave from the airport.

The NNIC also said it will open more parking spaces in Terminal 3 to accommodate more vehicles and help ease traffic congestion around the airport.

CAAP said 2.1 million passengers traveled from October to November 2023, higher than the 1.9 million recorded in the same period in 2022.

This year, CAAP said it expects to see a 7 to 10 percent increase in the number of passengers.
