MANILA -- Telco giants Globe and PLDT said they are helping Filipinos affected by severe tropical storm Kristine.

In a statement, Globe said it has restored service in Camarines Norte, Oriental Mindoro, Biliran, Eastern Samar, Northern Samar, Samar, and Southern Leyte.

It also said it has deployed free calls, charging, and WiFi stations in severely-hit areas.

Globe also said its service restoration is almost complete in Occidental Mindoro, Romblon,  Albay, Sorsogon, and Leyte.

Meanwhile, PLDT said Smart is providing the Albay Public Safety and Emergency Management Office (APSEMO) its Infocast service to help the local government communicate with its constituents.

PLDT said it is working with the foundations and corporate social responsibility arms of firms under tycoon Manuel V. Pangilinan to deliver food packs, sleeping kits, clothing, linen, hygiene kits, water, and medicines like doxycycline and paracetamol to the affected Filipinos.

Kristine is about to exit the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR), but thousands are still reeling from its effects.
