MANILA—GCash said its services will be temporarily unavailable for several hours in two days this week as its app undergoes system maintenance.

The fintech giant said that on Oct. 22 Tuesday and Oct. 24 Thursday its app "will be taking a break" from 2 a.m to 4 a.m.

"Please plan your transactions ahead to avoid any inconvenience," the company said on its official Facebook Page.

Last month, the Ayala-led fintech said it would conduct a systems upgrade, but later decided to postpone this.

The app suffered an outage in July, which left many users unable to access their accounts. The issue however was fixed hours later.

Since its launch 20 years ago, GCash has come to dominate the Philippine fintech landscape, with around 94 million users, or 8 out of 10 Filipinos. From online payments, the company has expanded its services into savings, investments and loans.

It has also expanded its reach beyond the Philippines, with overseas Filipinos now able to register the app using their non-Philippine SIMs.

With a market valuation of around $5 billion, GCash is expected soon to surpass the market cap of its parent Globe Telecom.
