MANILA - San Miguel Corp. has tapped car hailing app Uber to provide carpooling services to its employees.

The uberHOP carpool service, launched on October 3, is available to San Miguel employees in its Ortigas head office from 6 a.m. to 8 a.m. and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

The service allows up to six people traveling the same route to share one vehicle in efforts to help ease congestion on major roads during rush hour.

"We’re hoping that through this program, we can contribute to easing the situation by offering a viable way for our employees to lessen their impact--however small,” said San Miguel President and Chief Operating Officer Ramon Ang.
