MANILA -- Three government agencies need to “shape up” and comply with a law that seeks to make government transactions faster and less cumbersome, the country's Anti-Red Tape Authority said Wednesday.

More reforms are needed at the Food and Drug Administration, Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board, and Land Registration Authority to improve delivery of services, ARTA Director General Jeremiah Belgica said.

The 3 agencies were tagged as “priority” offices for review due to complaints, confidential information, as well as investigation results, Belgica said.

“Nakita talaga natin na (We saw that) they really need to shape up because there’s really red tape inside these agencies,” he told reporters.

“Medyo kailangan po nilang pagbutihin ang kanilang pagrereporma,” he added.

(They need to improve their reformation process.)

The FDA will present to the ARTA this week its plans to streamline services and meet government’s standards for processing time, he said.

The LTFRB is under “regulatory impact assessment” for more efficiency on service delivery. The agency has promised to set aside funding for compliance with the Ease of Doing Business law, Belgica said.

Digitizing land titles has been the stumble block for the LRA according to Belgica, who explained that doing so would speed up the release of documents.
