MANILA -- Lazada said Wednesday it appointed Ray Alimurung as its CEO in the Philippines, the first Filipino to hold the top post in the electronic marketplace.
Alimurung will replace founding CEO Inanc Balci, who is "moving on to pursue personal interests," Lazada said in a statement.
As chief commercial officer, Alimurung forged partnerships with Apple, Samsung, Estee Lauder and L'Oreal, the company said.
"These are exciting times for e-commerce. I look forward to continuing Lazada’s mission of providing the best customer experience and helping small and medium enterprises expand their business via Lazada," Alimurung said.
