TOKYO - Two new titles in the Pocket Monster game series will be put on sale on Nov. 16 for the Nintendo Switch console, an affiliate of Nintendo Co. said Wednesday.

As the first software in the popular Pokemon series for the next-generation game console introduced by Nintendo in March last year, "Pokemon: Let's Go, Pikachu!" and "Pokemon: Let's Go, Eevee!" will be released, Pokemon Co. said.

The games are connected to the Pokemon Go smartphone application, allowing users to enjoy the same fun they can experience in the smash-hit augmented reality game on Switch.

"We would like users who got to know Pokemon through Pokemon Go to try these new titles," Pokemon President Tsunekazu Ishihara said at a press conference in Tokyo.

A new device called the Poke Ball Plus, which can be used as an alternative controller for the games, will also be released in November. In addition to its use as a controller, users can transfer a pocket monster from the games into the device and walk around with it, the company said.

Nintendo achieved sales of 15 million Switch units in the business year ended in March and is aiming at sales of 20 million units in the current year.
