MANILA - Online retailer Zalora Philippines said Monday it expected a "very strong recovery" in sales as easing lockdowns make deliveries faster.

Orders kept coming during the enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) and despite the 2 week closure of its Cavite warehouse at the start of the lockdown on March 17, said co-founder and CEO Paolo Campos III.

"We’re also seeing a very strong recovery in May since April 28, when we were allowed to resume full operations...We’ve seen a steady increase in sales and we’re now back to pre-COVID levels," Campos told ANC.

The fashion-focused e-commerce platform also launched home, food and personal care essentials during the early part of the lockdown to cater to the needs of consumers, Campos said.

Moving Metro Manila to modified lockdown, and Cavite, where its warehouse is located, to general community quarantine, will help Zalora "scale more effectively," Campos said.

On May 16, the government placed Metro Manila and other high risk areas under the modified lockdown, where more businesses were allowed to operate, until May 31.
