Netflix says subscription rate hike 'not applicable' to Philippines

MANILA – Netflix Philippines said Thursday the reported increase in subscription rates only applies to US and select markets in Latin America and the Caribbean.

Current subscription plans in the Philippines range from P370 to P550 a month.

"It is not applicable to the APAC markets, including the Philippines," Netflix’s local public relations agency told ABS-CBN News.

The video streaming platform on Wednesday announced it would raise monthly subscription rates in the US by 13 to 18 percent to fund international expansion and the production of original contents.-- with a report from Reuters
