As we go through the very normal and natural process of aging, some of the things that become easily noticeable are our worsening eyesight and our skin marked with lines pointing to our experiences over the years. But just like caring for our eyes and our skin before that process even begins, it’s important to deal with—and prevent—hair loss early on.

Hair loss is caused by a multitude of things. According to the American Academy of Dermatology Association, it can be hereditary, affecting both men and women; it can be due to age, hormonal imbalance, or scalp infection; as well as other reasons, like alopecia areata and cancer treatment.

But hair loss is treatable, especially when dealt with early on.

In the newest episode of Metro Labs, reader Karla Obispo, a travel blogger and teacher, wrote to us: “Dear Metro, I used to have healthy hair, but now I’m seeing more hair on my brush and drain. What can I do?”

She shared how she used to live in Korea from 2015 to 2017 so when she came back to the Philippines, she had to adjust to the new environment including her increased workload. “It became really stressful for me, so what I noticed was that that stress made me lose some hair. Whenever I comb I could see more hair strands, when I sweep the floor, there’s so much hair so it bothered me a lot,” she adds.

Contrary to popular belief, you can’t be too young to worry about hair loss—in fact Karla is just in her twenties, and she knows how important it is to take care of your hair.

According to dermatologist Dr. Risa Caldoza, it’s normal to shed 50 to 100 hairs a day. “When it’s more than that,” she continues, “meaning there’s so many clumps of hair in the drain or in the brush, we call it excessive hair shedding. Now, ang excessive hair shedding, maraming causes. One of them is called telogen effluvium. This is diffused hair loss, caused by stress.”

There are many treatments available, according to Dr. Risa: hormone therapy, stress management, steroid injections, as well as topical products. She found an online recommendation of Novuhair and tried it out. “I tried to use it myself to see if it’s effective. At first I was hesitant. I think it’s a bit pricey, but I would pay for the cure of my hair fall, so I tried it and I was actually satisfied with the results,” she says. She even shared Novuhair with her dad, who also got good results with it.

Novuhair, a highly recommended product for treating hair loss, is one of our go-tos when it comes to hair loss. They have three flagship products: the Herbal Shampoo, the Topical Scalp Lotion, and the Herbal Conditioner. These products are jam-packed with natural ingredients, like ginger, ginseng, virgin coconut oil, aloe vera, lemongrass, and so much more, that work together to help prevent and remedy hair loss.

And so, at whichever age you’re in, prevention is better a cure—so it’s best to nip hair loss in the bud at the onset. Like how you use skin products to maintain your skin’s elasticity and suppleness like anti-aging creams, or to protect it from the sun’s UV rays, protect your hair as well from eventual hair loss using Novuhair!
