Editor Diaries: My Experience with Exion

I had tried Exion twice at Luminisce, and it's always coupled with my favorite facial, the Luxury Facial. The atmosphere at Luminisce is always warm and cozy, as they always make you feel at home. The first step involves cleansing, taking of before photos, and then proceeding to the facial. After said steps, I was ready for my Exion treatment. Editor's Note: In this article, I'll be focusing on the facial tightening experience, although I have tried Exion for my arms as well.

The aesthetician told me that fans of Exilis would love Exion, although I have never tried Exilis before. She warned me that this would challenge my heat tolerance, as the handheld piece drives a hot temperature as the procedure goes on. I signed a waiver, agreed, and accepted the challenge. After all, I was willing to endure some pain as I already have an idea of how other machines feel.

She attached a pad on my back—something that would help regulate the radio frequencies that would pass through my face and body. As I lied down, she began tapping on the machine, as seen above, and we focused on my cheeks and under my chin, as those were the areas I wanted to see some improvement on. After a thick application of cold gel to help the handheld piece glide on smoothly, the treatment proper started. She did long movements up and down and focused on certain parts for about 10 minutes at a time. I won't lie, it came to a point that it became a bit too hot for me, we had to stop for a while. But then again, it's nothing you won't be able to tolerate as the pain is very minimal and goes away quite easily.

After about 30 to 40 minutes, the entire procedure was done, and I was given a mirror to see the difference. It's true what they say—the results are immediate, and what you get is a snatched look, one that's lifted, tight, and visibly firmer. The clinic recommends intervals of about two weeks between visits if you want to do continuous Exion treatments, to allow your skin to breathe and recover.

The Verdict

After two trials, it's safe to say that it's a quick and easy treatment to get if you want instant results. The only downside is if you can't tolerate heat, but don't fret, as the aesthetician allows for adjusting of heat level depending on what the client wants. But for the brave at heart, getting the heat to the highest level enables them to see amazing, drastic results right after one visit, so that's something to keep in mind. As they say, no pain, no gain. If you're looking to supplement your holistic gua sha routine at home with a machine that can do it in an instant, then Exion is for you.
