Ara Davao, aka Katherine of “FPJ’s Batang Quiapo,” throws it back to the ‘70s, ‘80s, and ‘90s by trying on her mom, actress Jackie Lou Blanco’s old clothes in a recent vlog.

If you’re an avid follower of “FPJ’s Batang Quiapo,” you've probably noticed that Ara, who plays the kind-hearted Katherine Caballero, resembles her mother’s classic, pristine beauty. Sometimes, it's like looking at a young Jackie Lou. There's something about the current generation that often reminds us of their parents in their youth, right?

The first ensemble is a stunning Filipiniana attire which was meticulously hand-woven by Laguna-based designer Patis Tesoro, a close friend of Jackie Lou and Ara’s dad, actor-director Ricky Davao. Jackie Lou recalls wearing it for an Independence Day event, and Ara also showcased it for Buwan Ng Wika in high school.

Next is a pastel sleeveless mini-dress, which Jackie Lou first wore when her children were in grade school, so it’s not that retro and can easily be pulled off today. Its timeless appeal makes it a perfect fit for contemporary couture.
The third item, a lime green spaghetti-strap dress by Paul Cabral, didn’t zip up at the back when Ara tried it on. So, you can just imagine how slim Jackie Lou was in her early years! Ara appreciates how Paul Cabral’s designs are classics. She feels it’s still perfect for formal occasions today, like attending a wedding.

Another striking dress from Jackie Lou's closet is a sparkly ash blue spaghetti-strap gown from the ‘70s, which she used in her mom Pilita Corrales' concert. Its ageless elegance proves that the '70s mode stands the test of time. With a few alterations, Ara feels she could still rock it in this age.

The final piece is a brown long skirt with pockets and belt loops, which Jackie Lou used to wear on dates. Ara loves its vintage-modern vibe, feeling it blends classic and contemporary styles effortlessly.
