We all know Santino (Ronwaldo Martin) from the action-drama series "FPJ's Batang Quiapo" as the good son. But what’s heartbreaking—and honestly frustrating—is that despite being a good person, he doesn't receive the love he deserves from his father, Rigor (John Estrada), enough to fill his heart with resentment.

From the very beginning, Santino could already feel that Rigor only cared about his ego and his career as a cop, with little concern for his family, except, perhaps, for his favorite son, David (McCoy de Leon). The real turning point that caused Santino to completely pull back was when Rigor arrested him for allegedly killing his boxing mentor and boss, Coach Gary (Levi Ignacio), without solid proof, even as Santino insisted on his innocence. His heart was shattered when his own father saw him as a criminal without even listening to his side. It was only Santino’s ‘ninong,’ Mando (Allan Paule), who believed in him and helped his friend, Annika (Dexie Diaz), find a piece of evidence proving that he was with her at a restaurant when Coach Gary was killed. This was enough to get him released from jail.

When Santino was sent home, his eyes alone burned with hatred toward his father. He didn’t even glance back when Rigor called his name before he left the police station. But if Santino had looked back, Rigor would have seen the suffocating hurt in his son’s eyes. Bruised and disheveled, Santino stood there, his face a mixture of pain, disbelief, and rage.

Those who've lived with a toxic father will probably relate to Santino's feelings in the next scene when he opened up to Annika. Here, his anger exploded as he released all his pent-up emotions and resentment, saying that while Rigor keeps insisting that their eldest, Tanggol (Coco Martin), is the one bringing chaos to their family, Santino sees the truth—that it’s Rigor who is destroying their family, especially after he had an affair with Lena (Mercedes Cabral) and allowed his mistress to live with their family under the same roof as if she were part of their household.

Santino confronted Rigor's shamelessness in the following scene, where he found his father drinking a bottle of alcohol alone outside their house. Rigor greeted him, hoping to at least clear the air between them. However, Santino’s response was thick with bitterness. He voiced his anger, saying that his father didn’t bother investigating or even listening because he didn’t care about him. Santino admitted that he used to look up to Rigor, but now he couldn’t love him anymore because of the things he’s done that twisted their family dynamic, especially the blatant betrayal his mother, Marites (Cherry Pie Picache), endures at Rigor's hands. Santino’s words hit Rigor like rain against stone, no matter how he tried to hide it with his ego.

The next morning, Santino’s friends noticed him looking troubled, and they knew why. They thought that maybe it was time for Santino to move out, like his older brother Tanggol did, since there’s no real peace in their house. But Santino couldn’t bring himself to do it because he couldn’t leave his mother behind, feeling like he’s the only one she has right now with the heavy burden she’s carrying.

In the next sequence, when Marites noticed Santino being alone, she told him that he shouldn’t hold a grudge against his father. But this was hard for Santino, especially since all Rigor showed was his pride. To make things worse, before they could even reconcile, Rigor got angry at Santino’s defiance and threatened him by saying he’s not yet completely cleared of Coach Gary’s case with the investigation still ongoing.

So, even when Santino's innocence was proven and Rigor apologized for his mistake, Santino refused to forgive. He was still hurt, seeing that Rigor had no intention of changing the root cause of their family's misunderstandings.

There was also an incident when Rigor's group raided an underground boxing hub, not knowing that Santino was there for a match. Santino clearly heard Rigor call everyone there "salot sa lipunan." Fortunately, his father didn’t see his face, as he had the opening he needed to escape when Edwin (Ping Medina)'s group entered the scene to attack the cops.

We close this video montage with a typical chaotic morning at the Dimaguiba household. Santino was in a cheerful mood as Marites lovingly prepared his breakfast, but his demeanor changed when Rigor came out of the room and was about to join them at the table. Santino stood up, saying he wouldn’t eat. He also refused even when Rigor shouted an demanded ordered him to sit down so they could talk. Enraged, Rigor nearly hit his son, showing Santino just how capable his father was of hurting him. This only filled his heart with even more anger and resentment.
