She may be hailed as the “Pantasya ng Bayan” in the ‘90s, but “FPJ’s Batang Quiapo” actress Rosanna Roces indeed surprised everyone when she found her true love and forever in another woman—her longtime partner Blessy Arias.

Unbeknownst to many, their relationship was a perfect example of the oft-quoted adage “love is sweeter the second time around”. In an interview with “Rated K” in 2016, Rosanna, whose nickname is “Osang,” divulged that they first met each other when she was 15 and Blessy was 19 through the latter’s sister, who was her friend. They eventually became best friends and lovers, with Blessy being the one to support Osang, particularly when she got pregnant with her first child.

As much as they loved each other at the time, circumstances pushed them to part ways and they lost contact, especially when Osang became an actress and got married to her ex-husband.

After 27 years, they finally had the chance to see each other again in 2015 when Osang heeded Blessy’s request for her to visit her bedridden sister at the hospital, whose dying wish was to see her old friends. Not only that they made amends and rekindled their friendship, but they got back together as well.

Osang and Blessy got married a year later, not just once but twice. The couple first exchanged “I dos” in September 2016 in Canada, which was followed by an LGBTS Christian Church ceremony here in the Philippines held in Antipolo City, which was attended by Superstar Nora Aunor as one of the principal sponsors.

Aside from inspiring her to eliminate her vices and bad habits and giving her life a clearer direction, Osang disclosed in a different interview that she hired Blessy to manage her showbiz career, too. She has not only perceived her as a partner in life but also in becoming a better and more responsible actress, as she witnessed how genuinely sincere Blessy is with her personal welfare.

As Osang’s acting career continues to thrive, her marriage with Blessy just gets stronger and sweeter as time goes by. And they’re also now proud and doting grandparents to their five precious grandchildren.
