It was indeed an intense week (April 29 to May 3) for avid viewers of FPJ’s Batang Quiapo as each episode was packed with scenes that got us totally shocked and brought us to the edge of our seats.

The past week commenced with Lucio (Ronnie Lazaro) and the Tondo Gang accomplishing their first-ever mission of killing off Mr. Salazar (Johnny Revilla) as they forged allegiance with the Red Phoenix Group led by Angkong (Joonee Gamboa) and Roy (Jeffrey Tam). Thus, Angkong rewarded them with a whopping amount of money and even got Lucio promoted as one of the new leaders of the Red Phoenix Group as his way of showing his gratitude to them after they helped them get back on track.

Just when Jail Lt. Macasantos (Lao Rodriguez) assumed that he could gain the trust and favor of new National Correctional Facility (NCF) Chief Superintendent Oscar Duran (Bart Guingona) by uttering pleasantries to him, he found himself getting rebuked instead as the latter told him that he actually doesn’t trust him knowing that he is the righthand of Dolores Espinas (Jaclyn Jose). Thus, Chief Duran assigned Lt. Macasantos to solely do rounds around the correctional.

In his commitment to execute internal cleansing in the penitentiary, Chief Duran resorted to violence as he interrogated Celso (Soliman Cruz) about ex-Chief Espinas’ accomplices, regardless if they are inmates or officials.

Seeing how skilled Tanggol (Coco Martin) was, Pablo (Elijah Canlas) suddenly got worried that his opponent would beat him in their high-stakes billiard match. So, he came up with a way to unnerve Tanggol, which was by including Bubbles (Ivana Alawi) in their bet. Tanggol tried to object, but Baste (Niño Muhlach) urged Bubbles to agree to go on a date with Pablo once he wins, confident that Tanggol would emerge triumphant.

Unfortunately for Baste and his bar employees, it was Pablo who got the last laugh. Since he didn’t have P6.4 million to pay Pablo for winning the bet, Baste resolved to put his bar up as collateral. However, Pablo still gave him several days to produce money, or else he would come back to take full ownership of the bar.

While Marites (Cherry Pie Picache) and Santino (Ronwaldo Martin) stayed at the gym for the night after she discovered the extramarital affair of Rigor (John Estrada) with Lena (Mercedes Cabral), little they did know that he brought his mistress home with him. Even though they had the chance to sleep together as demanded by Lena, yet Rigor refused and told her that he wanted to be all by himself for that night.

During their heartwarming conversation, Santino finally mustered the courage to confess to Marites that he already entered the world of boxing. She initially discouraged him to continue, but she eventually gave him the permission and moral support he needs even though it was against her will because she knows that it’s his greatest ambition.

Upon learning from Tanggol what he did to Mokang (Lovi Poe) after she unintentionally killed during a bloody encounter with Ramon’s (Christopher de Leon) henchmen, Olga (Irma Adlawan) immediately ordered her minions to go to the churchyard where he and Bubbles buried the remains of Mokang and unearth it. They were able to recover it and took it away with them as Olga thought that she might use it someday.

The following day, Marites had the chance to personally talk to Coach Gary (Levi Ignacio) to thank him for training him and to tell him that she already allows Santino to do boxing. As Santino expressed his yearning for them to relocate since he wasn’t already keen in going back to their house, Marites argued that despite being harmed and cheated on by Rigor, she would not let Lena destroy their family that she’s been fighting hard for.

As she and Santino went home, Marites caught Lena and ferocious altercation erupted between them. Upon hearing the commotion outside the room, Rigor came to Lena’s rescue and slapped Marites to stop her from attacking his mistress. That’s also when he disclosed that Lena is pregnant with their child, which totally devastated Marites and got Santino furious.

Aside from having the audacity to bring his pregnant mistress at their home and keep on choosing her over his wife, another thing that stirred the fury of the viewers and netizens towards Rigor was when he gaslighted Marites. Instead of being apologetic for the mistakes he committed, he told her to just accept the current situation they’re in and reminded her of the huge sacrifice that he did for her. And that was when he still accepted her after what happened to him and took responsibility of Tanggol even though he’s not his own flesh and blood.

But what made Rigor more contemptible was when he removed his wedding ring and handed it to Marites as his way of telling him that the future of their family already lies to her. It might be a tough and painful decision for Marites, yet she chose to swallow her pride in order to keep their family while also reminding Lena of her place in their household.

Beng (a.k.a. Olga) suddenly came at the Dimaguiba residence to check on Marites. She got upset upon learning that she once again forgave him, so she advised her to muster the courage to fight back and show Lena and Rigor that she’s indeed the “only one” and not just the “number one.”

Meanwhile, Tanggol and Bubbles figured in a wild fisticuff against the mobsters who kept on pestering the latter’s grandma and their neighbors by charging them with P1000 each as payment in exchange of allowing them to do business on the street. The enemies might be bigger than them, yet their dynamic duo was still able to beat them all.

Pablo then arrived shortly after with a bouquet of flowers and box of chocolates to pick her up for their date that day.

With everything that happened in the previous week, it didn’t come as a surprise that the emotions of the viewers were high and intense as well, as suggested by the tweets that some of them posted on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter). Here are some that we had spotted:

Are you as thrilled as us to see what are going to happen in the next face-offs of Tanggol and Pablo and of Marites and Lena? Well, you better not miss an episode of FPJ’s Batang Quiapo, weeknights at 8 PM on Kapamilya Channel, Kapamilya Online Live, A2Z, and TV5.
