With how she appears youthful, glowing, and vigorous, it’s quite difficult to believe that Jodi Sta. Maria had already reached her 42nd year of existence when she celebrated her birthday on June 16.

But aside from her admirable beauty, grace, and personality, another thing that many people adore about her is her magnificent acting prowess, which continuously has astonished us in the 26 years that she has been in the entertainment industry. And as she turned a year older, not to mention that she’s about to star in Dreamscape Entertainment’s grandest teleserye this 2024, Lavender Fields, let’s join her in celebrating her milestones by looking back on some of her remarkable teleserye performances over the years in this Kapamilya Time-List feature!

Just like most of her contemporaries, Jodi’s showbiz career took off when she was a teenager and became part of Star Magic at the age of 15. She appeared in a slew of teen-oriented shows and movies, including the iconic teen drama Tabing Ilog, wherein she played the role of George, the love interest of Baron Geisler’s character, Fonsi.

By the start of the new millennium in 2000, she was bestowed the opportunity to be part of the hit classic romance drama Pangako Sa ‘Yo as Lia, the younger sister of Jericho Rosales’ Angelo Buenavista.

In 2005, Jodi was able to prove that she can also be a kontrabida when she portrayed Veronica Saavedra de Vera in Pablo S. Gomez’s Kampanerang Kuba, the TV adaptation of the Filipino comic series of the same title starring Anne Curtis.

Despite only recurring, she made sure that her character Angela Dominguez in the hit 2009 series Tayong Dalawa still left a mark on the viewers by showing off her intense dramatic prowess. That went on in 2010, when she was tapped to play Ruth, the onscreen partner of Piolo Pascual and mother of Zaijian Jaranilla, in the 2010 series Noah.

The following year, she amused us with her portrayal of Sophia Delgado, one of the main characters in the well-loved 2011 fantasy comedy drama series 100 Days To Heaven, as she showcased both her dramatic and comedic facets.

It seemed that 2012 was indeed a monumental year for her because she didn’t just turn 30, but it was also when she was chosen to top-bill the sleeper hit Be Careful With My Heart as the charming and cheerful leading lady Maya Dela Rosa. She received numerous nominations and recognitions from various award-giving organizations, including the “Most Popular Loveteam on Television” from the GMMSF Box-Office Entertainment Awards that she won twice together with onscreen partner Richard Yap.

She became unstoppable since then as she continued to showcase her versatility and brilliance as an actress. A year after the said daytime series concluded, Jodi was given the iconic role of Amor Powers in the 2015 remake of the classic ABS-CBN soap opera Pangako Sa ‘Yo, which was originally portrayed by veteran actress Eula Valdez. Her compelling performance earned her recognition from various award-giving bodies, including the Best Actress nomination from the International Emmy Awards.

She further impressed us with her first-ever portrayal of dual roles in the 2018 daytime series Sana Dalawa Ang Puso, in which she won the hearts of viewers as estranged twins Mona Bulalayao and Lisa Laureano.

We once again witnessed her intense dramatic chops when she took on the role of Fina Baniaga, a mother whose journey in searching and fighting for her lost child we followed in the 2019 primetime series Sino Ang Maysala? Mea Culpa.

The raging pandemic in 2020 didn’t stop her from delivering a powerful acting performance as the fierce bida kontrabida Marissa Pineda in the critically acclaimed series Ang Sa Iyo Ay Akin that she led opposite Iza Calzado.

In 2022, she went on to astound us with her notable portrayal of Dra. Jill Ilustre in The Broken Marriage Vow, the Philippine adaptation of the hit British series “Doctor Foster”. Her compelling performance as a tough and devoted woman who amazed and inspired us by how she confronted the heartbreaking betrayal of her husband and closest friends earned her the prestigious Asian Academy Creative Award for “Best Actress in a Leading Role”.

And in 2023, Jodi gave us another superb performance in Unbreak My Heart, which served as a historic collaboration among ABS-CBN, GMA Network, and Viu. It followed the story of her character Rose, who got entangled in a love triangle with her daughter Alex (Gabbi Garcia) after she developed a romantic affair with the latter’s boyfriend Renz (Joshua Garcia).
