The best thing about playing family roles is the bond that gets real inside and outside work. The cast of “Misis Piggy” found a new family in each other, as Iana Bernardez and Elijah Canlas shared in this episode of Kapamilya Chat.

iWantTFC original series “Misis Piggy” paints a light yet heartwarming story of meat vendor and single mother Marivic (Sylvia Sanchez) who works hard for her three kids – Ria Atayde as the eldest Lani, Iana as middle child Steffi, and Elijah as the youngest Jeffrey – despite her personal struggles and hurt.

Viewers will surely enjoy watching the trio banter like real siblings, with Lani and Steffi as usual opponents and Jeffrey as the referee. The bickering scenes spotlight their chemistry and are actually Iana and Elijah’s favorites.

Iana was Elijah’s producer in “Past, Present, Perfect” and “Babae at Baril.” She’s admittedly a big fan of him, thus casting him as much as possible.

The fan mode continued as they talked about their fellow cast members. They said Sylvia’s motherly love is unscripted. She’s generous and caring in real life. She even requested to remove the barriers between tents so everyone is bonded. It helped create family-like chemistry. And it’s not the first time a co-actor talked about Sylvia’s kindness and her practice of sharing food on the set. Besides food, she’s generous of acting tips and life advice, thus newcomers like Iana and Elijah are grateful to be working with her.

Like mother, like daughter. Ria is as generous, kind, and team player as her mom. According to Iana, she grew closer with Ria while working on the series. Elijah recalled how bubble Ria was on their first meeting.

Also in the series is Fino Herrera, Elijah’s roommate in the bubble. Elijah said Fino is quiet at first but they immediately shared the same vibe. While she hasn’t shared a full scene with Fino, Iana breezed through as his producer. Meanwhile, Nikko Natividad is described as their funny guy. And his kind of humor is never annoying or offensive but smart.

Also joining them in the cast is veteran actor-director Ricky Davao, who’s very collaborative throughout. Iana, as one the show’s producers, appreciates Ricky’s willingness to share input. She also noted that he’s a proud, loving father to his kids.

As for the lessons in “Misis Piggy,” the guests believe they’d be teaching family values. They hope the series inspires viewers to appreciate their parents, especially their mothers. Speaking of mothers and in light of the coming Mother’s Day, Iana and Elijah gave special message to Kapamilya moms.
