Planning to renovate your house for the ‘ber’ months? Keep in mind that creating a harmonious flow of good energy for your home is as essential as the overall aesthetics.

Get tips from Feng Shui expert Master Hanz Cua as he reacts to Regine Velasquez-Alcasid’s house tour.

As the Asia’s Songbird begins the house tour, Master Hanz noticed the high ceiling, which he says signifies soaring career. The house is also spacious which brings tons of good luck and blessings since open spaces allow a continuous flow of ‘chi’ or energy.

Keeping the atmosphere bright and cozy brings good feng shui as well. Regine’s glass windows let direct sunlight in, thus blocking off negative energies.

For the stairs, make sure the risers, or the spaces between one step and another, are covered with solid wood material for luck to progress. Master Hanz also advised avoiding water elements like aquariums, ponds, and fountains under the stairs as it could impede good fortune. Also follow the “oro (gold), plata (silver), mata (death)” principle of counting the steps. The last step must fall under “oro” to enhance luck.

Regine adorned the staircase with golden bird decors, which, according to Master Hanz, can bring good luck and good news. Putting two bird decors signifies harmonious relationship between lovers.

Regine’s son, Nate, had his bedroom door painted in blue, which complements the north, northwest, and west sectors.

They went next to the TV room, Regine’s favorite area in the house because of the photo displays. Master Hanz explains that family portraits manifest warm relationships. But, remember not to place them under beam foundations and stairs since this will block each family member’s progress.

If planning for a family photoshoot, wear red clothes, and your best pieces of jewelry for good fortune. Do not take sad and crying photos as it will attract solitude. More so, images of war, guns, crimes, and aggressive behavior must not be put on display. Discard broken picture frames as this could lead to cracks in the relationship.

One eye-catching element in the room is the painting of a sad clown. However, Master Hanz considers it bad feng shui as it portrays depressing energy. In case you can’t put away such paintings, place happy pictures underneath to balance out the energy. Abstract paintings also symbolize confusion and less output. Sexy photos, even if it’s your own, must not be displayed as they signal marital problems, specifically cheating. For single men, displaying sexy calendar photos might lead you to become a bachelor for the rest of your life.

When Regine’s father, the late Mang Gerry, got sick, she decided to put an elevator inside the house. Master Hanz noticed the mirror is directly facing the elevator door, which is bad feng shui since it causes the energy to bounce back. In terms of finances, this could mean you will earn quickly but spend just as easily. He says floor plan feng shui is also necessary when putting elevators inside the house.

The Velasquez-Alcasid’s dining area is on the second floor. The table is adorned with battery-operated candles and pinecones. Master Hanz noticed the dining area has warm colors like orange, yellow, and red, which draw in luck and warm relationships among family members.

Regine took us to the open balcony where they watch spectacular fireworks display every New Year. Master Hanz noted the vast view from the dining area and says it signifies the family members’ careers will soar to greater heights.

When Regine introduced their pet cat named Cyrus, Master Hanz reminds viewers that pet cats and dogs bring good luck thanks to their happy nature that dispels negative energy. But they must be bathed and fed well and be healthy at all times to enhance good feng shui.

Regine’s kitchen is an open space. “I didn’t want to have partitions because normally when I cook, I want to entertain people as well,” shares the Idol Philippines judge. In styling the kitchen, Master Hanz stressed that the sink and stove must not directly face each other because the water and fire elements will clash, resulting in family disputes.

He also reviewed Regine’s tour of her house in Quezon City. The first thing he noticed is the money coin by the stairs. He explains that a money coin is a round object with a square at the center. Money coin was created by feng shui masters during imperial times. The round shape signifies 'heaven luck', while the square shape symbolizes 'man luck'. This means “heaven to man.” Whoever has a money coin will bring prosperity. When placed by the stairs, it helps bring the energy up.

As Regine mentioned the house was renovated, Master Hanz maintains the significance of feng shui rituals, feng shui floor plan, and a groundbreaking ceremony. It will be best to depend on auspicious dates for the renovation.

Regine showed a fancy chair designed by Cebu-based multi-awarded furniture designer Kenneth Cobonpue. Reacting to that, Master Hanz calls it a lucky chair because of its color and elegant look. Another chair in the singer’s collection is made of wood, which Master Hanz considers lucky for people in the music industry since the wood element enhances the fire element that promotes fame and recognition.

The Magandang Buhay momshie mentioned that her husband Ogie Alcasid loves the piano. It was placed in an open space upstairs, giving them a vast outdoor view while playing the instrument. Master Hanz remarks that it means they will go a long way while creating music.

Well, aside from the feng shui elements, what makes the Velasquez-Alcasid abode lucky is the abundant amount of love in it.
