Love was in the air as Dingdong Dantes and Marian Rivera graced the Kapamilya Chat studio to unveil insights about their film “Rewind,” an entry to the Metro Manila Film Festival 2023. The sweethearts shared their thoughts on the movie, their characters, and working together as a married couple in the entertainment industry.

DongYan was all smiles when they said the upcoming special screening for “Rewind” would be their first time watching the entire film. Expressing their anticipation, they emphasized that the movie was crafted for couples and families, aiming to prompt reflection and encourage audiences to appreciate every moment, making it an ideal choice for the Christmas season.

The couple delved into their respective characters, shedding light on what they admire and find challenging about each other’s roles. In the movie, Marian plays Mary, the ideal wife; Dingdong is John, the husband who plays tug-of-war with time after he realizes his shortcomings and that he got too career-driven to the point of neglecting his family.

They also shared their experience working with child actor Jordan Lim, who portrays their son in the movie, describing him as a natural and adorable talent with an impressive ability to absorb and learn.

Discussing their approach as actors, Marian admitted her ease in slipping into and out of character, on the other hand, Dingdong said he needs a process and warm-up before getting into his character and scenes. For instance, there was a scene in the movie where he delivered a eulogy, as seen in the trailer. He disclosed that prayers helped him prepare for that emotionally charged scene. The couple also commended Director Mae Cruz-Alviar for shooting the scenes chronologically, which helped them capture authentic emotions.

Asked about the difference between them as a real-life couple and as actors, they said there are quite parallels between these two scenarios. Whether on-cam or off-cam, they make sure to exercise mutual respect and give each other the necessary space for growth and to explore individually. This makes them feel more grateful and blessed to have each other in their personal and professional journeys.

Rewinding a bit, they were asked what they were like as actors before and now. They noted that nothing much has changed, apart from their priorities now that they’re married and with kids.

In keeping with the movie’s theme, DongYan was asked their advice for couples when facing misunderstandings, they stressed the importance of taking a step back and maintaining respect. Marian underscored the importance of communication done at the perfect time.

In a quick-fire concluding round, asked to describe their movie, Dingdong aptly called it relatable, capturing its connection with the audience. Marian echoed her husband’s answer, adding that “Rewind” is perfect for the Christmas season, promising a heartwarming and reflective experience for the moviegoers.

As the anticipation builds for the release of “Rewind” on Christmas Day, December 25, Marian and Dingdong invite audiences to join them on a journey of self-discovery, love, and the beauty of cherishing every moment.
