A month after stepping back to the outside world, Pinoy Big Brother Kumunity Season 10 Celebrity Edition housemates-turned-“sizzies” Samantha Bernardo and Alyssa Valdez thrilled their supporters as they graced the latest episode of Hotspot on Thursday, February 3. Just before the program started, their fans had made the hashtags #SamLy and #GrandPhenomenalHotspot became a trending topic on Twitter.

Host DJ Jhai Ho started off their fun chikahan with a kumustahan, with Samantha sharing that she’s currently taking her well-deserved vacation in Boracay as she’s still resetting and adjusting herself in the outside world. On the other hand, Alyssa has already begun working out and training for volleyball as she’s about to play again for Philippine Volleybal League and has been making up for the lost time she had with her dogs.

Just like the other personalities who became part of PBB, they also shared how their lives have changed ever since joining the reality show. The “The Heartstrong Phenom of Batangas” is thankful that they were given the chance to be normal people and be able to know each other and themselves. Meanwhile, “The Bread-Queen-er ng Palawan” imparted that it made her more conscious about her health and learn to prioritize herself even more.

When asked if they ever dreamt of joining the reality show, Alyssa disclosed that she actually didn’t know much about it since her schedule as a professional athlete had been really busy. But she was really excited, yet scared and pressured at the same time since she’s not the type who shares her personal life much off the court.

“But I’m actually grateful na I took that risk also, I took that step to go inside the PBB house kasi it was quite an experience talaga for me. It’s a humbling experience for me,” she said.

Samantha, on the other hand, had actually witnessed PBB auditions in her hometown in Palawan when she was still in highschool. However, he didn’t have the chance to try since she was busy with school and other extracurricular activities, and, at the same time, her preparations for pageants occupied her time so much. Thus, she was in disbelief when she was offered to join the celebrity edition.

“Na-realize ko rin na this is the perfect time and opportunity for me to show people talaga who Samantha Bernardo behind the glitz and the glamour of pageantry. So, kinakabahan ako at natatakot, yes, pero we did it and I’m glad na ginawa namin, she stated, further imparting that she and the housemates were anxious on how people perceived them.

As her fellow beauty queens ventured in show business, the Binibining Pilipinas Grand International 2020 titleholder revealed that she’s actually not into acting, but sees herself more in TV hosting like her ultimate peg PBB host Toni Gonzaga. She may not be closing her doors to acting opportunities, but she’s not really keen in accepting sexy roles, although she’s all-out support to those who took or have taken that path.

The volleyball superstar echoed her sizzy’s response by saying that she’s also open to showbiz opportunities and willing to learn and undergo trainings just like what she does in sports, since she knows how being in this industry requires a lot of courage, passion, and effort.

With regards to what made them besties, Sam shared that it’s probably being their used to healthy competition as pageant and sports personalities have driven them together, as well as their determination to succeed and finish stronger and their self-discipline.

“Kaya naman talaga kami sizzy kasi with all of the things that happened in PBB, we never defined our friendship with the challenges happening to us because we know, deep in our hearts that’s the real friendship that we have,” she explained. Alyssa supported it by adding that teamwork and the way they handle people and themselves have connected them as well.

They may already be popular, but the sizzies revealed that they got intimidated with some of their housemates, too. For Sam, it was Alexa Ilacad because of her striking aura, while it was Madam Inutz for for Aly as she initially wondered if they could get along well.

As their adorable bond received overwhelming support from viewers, Sam didn’t expect that their unexpected friendship would bring them to the Top 5, so they try to give back to their fans by doing KUMU livestreams every now and then. Aly also found it surreal since they were just doing ordinary things together and that people were able to appreciate their genuineness. Thus, they’re happy and grateful that their friendship as brought good vibes to the viewers amid challenging times.

Now that they’re in show business, DJ Jhai Ho asked them who among the local celebrities they wish to befriend. For Samantha, it’s her ultimate idol Heart Evangelista, Moira Dela Torre, and her crush Enrique Gil. Meanwhile, they were Belle Mariano, Piolo Pascual, and Moira Dela Torre, too, for Alyssa.
