For Filipinos, food is a rich cultural expression, deeply intertwined with our history and heritage, and it plays a central role in fostering togetherness too. For us, food can even be considered a love language. It's no surprise, then, that some teleseryes center around the theme of food.

These shows, which we compiled in this Kapamilya TimeList video, will not only make your stomach growl but also fill you with servings of emotions as you binge-watch them.

Ysabella

Known as the Drama Queen, Judy Ann Santos is also a ‘reyna’ in the kitchen, making her the ideal actress for the lead role in the 2007 television series “Ysabella.” The story followed a passionate woman whose life revolved around her love for food and cooking.

Inspired by her mother’s success as a cook, Ysabella channeled her natural culinary talent and dedication into her dreams. And despite life’s bitter challenges, she remained dedicated to finding the ingredients to make life sweeter. Along her journey, she met the confident and streetwise Andrew (Ryan Agoncillo) and the charming chef Mito (Derek Ramsay).

Only You

The 2009 teleserye “Only You was certainly a delight to watch for foodie viewers and aspiring chefs. A Pinoy adaptation of the hit Korean series of the same title, it was top-billed by Angel Locsin, who played Jillian, who flew to South Korea to refine her skills. But she soon realized that she also needed people who could teach her winning recipes – in the kitchen and in life.

Got To Believe

The blossoming romance between Chichay (Kathryn Bernardo) and Joaquin (Daniel Padilla) in “Got To Believe” was sparked by their shared love for food. And the ‘kilig’ soared higher when Joaquin changed into a happy man after encountering Chichay’s family, particularly her mother Betchay (Manilyn Reynes), who was known for her exceptional kitchen prowess and prepared undeniably delicious meals.

Annaliza

In her breakthrough role as a child actress in 2013, Andrea Brillantes portrayed the titular character in the modern adaptation of the classic drama "Annaliza." Despite the absence of a mother's love and the challenges posed by wicked individuals intent on making her life difficult, one thing kept Annaliza's spirit alive – her innate gift for cooking.

FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano

In "FPJ's Ang Probinsyano," almost every female character showcased their ability to whip up hearty meals. Remember Lola Flora (Susan Roces) and her famous kare-kare and carinderia? Amidst war in the story, the carinderia represents the unity of friends and family, and the power of food in forging a happy community.

Alyana (Yassi Pressman) also displayed culinary prowess in the series. She won Cardo's (Coco Martin) heart through her cooking, particularly her specialty, lumpia. Similarly, Carmen (Bela Padilla) was recognized for her delicious binagoongan dish.

Pangako Sa’yo

If you're in the restaurant business, the tale of Angelo (Daniel Padilla) and Yna (Kathryn Bernardo) in "Pangako Sa'yo" (2015) might strike a chord with you. Angelo was fueled by his passion for crafting exceptional dishes to revive his family's resort, Casa Corazon. Meanwhile, fate intervened when Yna pursued her dream of becoming a chef and secured a position as a cook at Casa Corazon, altering their paths in unexpected ways.

We Will Survive

In "We Will Survive," real-life moms Melai Cantiveros and Pokwang demonstrated their flair in the kitchen, adding authenticity to their roles as two probinsyanas navigating life's challenges. The series followed their journey of friendship, resilience, and survival as they faced heartaches and overcame obstacles together.

Kadenang Ginto

In the afternoon series "Kadenang Ginto," Romina (Beauty Gonzales) and Daniela (Dimples Romana), found themselves entangled not only in business rivalries but also often in culinary clashes that added spice to their feud. Just a little refresher on the most satisfying cooking showdown in the series, we’ll remind you of the scene where Daniela declared, “I’m going to cook,” as she walked into the kitchen warzone against Romina. Later on, the two matriarchs fed their families with different meals – a first-hand Korean cuisine experience for Daniela’s and a classic Pinoy dish served in a native ‘palayok’ for Romina’s.

Make It with You

Being a baker means you get to relish the aroma of freshly baked bread. This was the essence of Gabo (Enrique Gil) and Billy (Liza Soberano)'s world in the 2020 series "Make It With You," featuring captivating scenes shot in Croatia. Their journey centered on a mutual love for baking, showcasing how despite their contrasting backgrounds and priorities, they forged a common path towards their dreams and love through their shared gift for creating delectable ‘tinapay.’

FPJ’s Batang Quiapo

As the title suggests, “FPJ’s Batang Quiapo” revolves around the vibrant life in Quiapo, a district known for its bustling food hubs offering an array of local delicacies. Moreover, the show not only immerses viewers in Quiapo's food culture but sparks gastronomic inspiration through the character of Tindeng (Charo Santos), who is known for her mouthwatering dishes.
