A mother’s love never fades. For Dimples Romana, this rings true even with her motherly roles in teleseryes.
Earlier this January, while going through old photos of her projects, Dimples took a trip down memory lane seeing her snaps of Kathryn Bernardo and Julia Montes when she worked with them on the 2010 remake of the famous Philippine drama Mara Clara. Portraying Alvira del Valle, she was a mother to Mara (Kathryn) and Clara (Julia) during the series’ run.
“Going through my old photos from projects I’ve done years ago, and thought I’d share these unseen photos of us and my baby @bernardokath 💞 during one of the biggest scenes we’ve shot for Mara Clara (Remake) 😉,” she shared on her Instagram post dedicated to Kath.

At the time Mara Clara began, Kathryn was still growing in the industry. Despite this, she was able to form such a heartwarming bond with Dimples. Their characters’ relationship could even be described as a complicated one, with Alvira only finding out that Mara was her real daughter when she was already a teenager. After this was revealed, it took time for them to connect and learn to love each other as family.

Seeing Kath transform as an actress from that role over the years has made Dimples so proud of how far she has come. She reminisced in her post, “Kath would’ve been maybe 15 or 16? 💞 so dreamy and always so beautiful ☺️Proud of you always babe! ☺️ So happy seeing you soar so high and yet still have the same sweet, humble and grounded vibe from when we were all just babies haha 🥰 Love you! Morning! 🌸 Anong project pa namin ang gusto nyo makakita ng old photos haha Hanap pa ako 😍”

Dimples also penned a special message for Julia, her precious Clara, later that week, “A decade away throwback photos with my Clara 😍 @montesjulia08 💋 Photos taken 11 years ago 😉 So proud of my baby, of the woman and actress you have become and still becoming.”

After a decade since working with Julia, Dimples can’t help but adore the woman her talented little girl has turned into. When Julia was playing Clara, she was already internalizing complex emotions and roles. After all, Clara had to struggle understanding that Alvira, the mother she had known since birth, wasn’t her biological mother. Add in the fact that Alvira’s true daughter is her rival, Mara. Julia proved her acting prowess with her role as Clara, and Dimples knew that that was just the beginning of her journey.

Dimples looks forward to more success for Julia and admires her as a friend and fellow actress. She thoughtfully wrote in her post to Julia, “You are loved by the people because even when we all know you are on a prime league of your own, I still get to speak to you the same way I did 10 years ago, you’re still as thoughtful, still as loving and still so protective of Ate haha 😆😘 I am blessed to have a strong young friend/ sister that I can constantly rely on, lean on and talk to about everything and anything under the sun!!! Here’s to many more years of our friendship! Labyu bebeeeee 😘”
It’s so touching to see that Dimples holds a special place in her heart for her Mara and Clara 一 Kath and Julia.
And now, Dimples has “adopted” two new daughters through Charlie Dizon and Karina Bautista, who play two of her children in the ongoing primetime series Viral Scandal and fondly call her “Nay” on-and-off-screen.
