Primetime is going to be an exciting and explosive territory this 2023, with the lineup of Kapamilya programs to premiere this year. One of the most anticipated is Coco Martin and Lovi Poe's “FPJ’s Batang Quiapo.”

Besides it being a tribute to the legacy of National Artist for Film Fernando Poe Jr., who starred in the original 1986 film, the project also boasts a lofty ensemble cast and very Pinoy elements that will make for a pleasurable viewing experience.

Based on the title, the series will be shot mostly in the streets of Quiapo, which perfectly captures the lives of ordinary Pinoys, making it surely relatable and gratifying to see for the audience. “Exciting ‘yung story, parang makulay. Marami pang pwedeng mangyari sa paligid ng Quiapo,” said Allan Paule during the story conference.

Mercedes Cabral is proud to be part of the gigantic ensemble cast and looking forward to collaborating with everyone. Ping Medina is grateful to share this project with his father Pen Medina and to be reunited with Coco. The Medinas aren’t the only family tandem in the show since Coco’s brother Ronwaldo Martin is also part of the series.

In the next video uploaded by production unit Dreamscape Entertainment, Mark Lapid called it an honor to work with Coco in another project dedicated to FPJ, the “King of Philippine Movies.” To recall, Mark and Coco were co-actors in “FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano.”

Adding to the show’s brilliance is veteran actress Susan Africa, who is delighted to join a team of passionate individuals, “Ito po ay magiging isang project na puno ng pagmamahal, unang-una kasi dito po nararamdaman ko ang pagmamahal natin sa isa’t isa.”

Tommy Abuel added, “I’m really honored and excited to be part of this show, to be working with such wonderful and talented actors and actresses.” Apart from enthralling performances, Benzon Dalina mentioned that they will impart inspiration to the viewers.

Joining them in the cast are Christopher de Leon, Lito Lapid, Cherry Pie Picache, John Estrada, and Charo Santos.

Watch out for the premiere of “FPJ’s Batang Quiapo,” produced by Dreamscape Entertainment and Coco’s CCM Film Productions, directed by Coco himself and Malu Sevilla, on all Kapamilya platforms this 2023.

The original action-comedy movie “Batang Quiapo” is about Manila’s pickpocket kingpin Baldo (FPJ), who is determined to start a decent life after his time in prison. He meets a young female thief named Maria (Maricel Soriano) asking him to take her as an apprentice, but instead, he tries to put her on the right path.
