Eric Fructuoso and Jao Mapa, two of the members of the ‘90s group “Guwapings,” talked about their reunion project with groupmate Mark Anthony Fernadez and what it’s like working with new breed of actors.

“Parang kahapon lang,” mused Eric when asked how it feels to be back on the big screen with his fellow “Guwapings” members and good friends Jao and Mark Anthony. The actors are reunited via the upcoming drama-comedy movie “Para Kang Papa Mo” which also features Hashtags members Nikko Natividad, Zeus Collins, and Kid Yambao playing their sons.

Jao added that they had a blast working with each other again, and at the same time, they enjoyed the company of their younger co-stars, as well as of seasoned actress Ruby Ruiz. The OG heartthrobs have nothing but good words for their younger co-actors, especially Eric who was extra confident about Nikko’s acting skills which he first witnessed in a previous project they did together.

“Ako na ‘yung pino-po ngayon,” he said in jest. But, jokes aside, he imparted that respect and humility are what actually propel young actors forward. “Pwedeng enjoy-in ang work pero seryosohin, pagiging professional ba. At saka ‘di baleng isipin ng iba na para kang baliw basta just respect everyone. Ikaw ang unang mag-good morning. Ikaw unang mag-hello. Whether kasundo o hindi mo kasundo ang ibang tao, maging magalang.”

“To some, akala nila laro lang ‘to, eh. Akala nila ‘pag pogi ka o maganda, pwede na. It takes a lot talaga,” said Eric, adding that their batch was lucky enough to have experience acting at a time when there was no social media, hence it was easier to navigate public scrutiny. The simpler dynamics then contributed a lot to their wealth of experience and honed their work ethic.

Jao shared that it felt surreal in a good way watching stars from different generations work together for a single project, “Ang ganda ng kinalabasan ng chemistry na dinulot ng cast na ito for this project. It was unexpected pero enjoy.”

One of the most endearing things about reunion projects is that we get to see snippets of the actors’ solid real-life bond. In this episode, Jao and Eric took on the “Bukingan Challenge” where they revealed who’s who among the "Guwapings." Of course, they shared some amusing secrets like which member is the “pinaka tahimik,” “pinaka alaskador” and “pinaka antukin”. Things got a bit hilarious when they were asked who the most handsome member is and who had the most girlfriends.

Kapamilya Chat added another layer of fun by asking the guests to play “5 Seconds Walang Malisya” in which they must answer the given ‘creative’ questions within five seconds.
