Behind-the-Scenes: Coco and Richard’s epic, gruesome showdown in FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano

A villain’s death scene usually ends up as one of the most lingering moments in FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano. When the bad guy has committed a gigantic felony toward Cardo Dalisay (Coco Martin), such as causing the death of a loved one, the revenge becomes even more visceral, with a level of violence deserved by the felon.

In last week’s episodes, Cardo has finally slashed one of his biggest enemies, Lito Valmoria (Richard Gutierrez), in an epic showdown. Check out their preparations and actual filming in the behind-the-scenes photos.

Lito’s downfall was a brutal kill choreographed to perfection, just suited for an antagonist with a sensational record of offenses. To recall, he was Alyana (Yassi Pressman)’s teenage sweetheart who harbored the Task Force Agila. He provided them shelter, food, and even jobs at his ranch.

Then, he tried to break Cardo and Alyana’s marriage all the while running a drug syndicate. He also sexually assaulted Alyana after selling out the Task Force Agila to the authorities, which put their lives in great danger and caused Alyana’s death.

Ultimately driven by vendetta, both Lito and Cardo looked forward to meeting again, which finally happened when Lily (Lorna Tolentino) tricked the Agilas in an airport battle. In the events leading to his downfall, Lito attempted to defy Lily’s order to keep Cardo alive and under hospital arrest, sparking off an intense gunfight between his henchmen and Albert (Geoff Eigenmann)’s Black Ops.

Cardo tried to escape by disguising as a Black Ops trooper, leading to his face-off with Lito. The mortal enemies exchanged hits and punches in a men’s room made filthier by the stains of blood all over. The two struggled over a knife, which Lito managed to dig into Cardo’s body. However, the latter got back up and escaped by vehicle, still with the knife stuck on his body, resulting in an adrenaline-rushing chase scene. The bitter rivals met at a bridge and exchanged bullets as they sped toward each other. Tossing themselves out of the exploding vehicles, Cardo and Lito fired a barrage of bullets at each other at close proximity. “Para kay Alyana,” Cardo shouted as he stabbed Lito.

It was so intense we wonder how they mounted the three-episode fight scene.

There’s nothing more exciting than a fight scene wherein the hero appears as the underdog fighting with a more powerful opponent at first.

Kudos to Coco and Richard for being so game to get wet, dirty, and bloody as they struggle in a restroom.

The team also made sure the wounds and spectacle of blood will create big impact on the scene. Richard took a selfie flexing his bloodied face.

To show the audience the intensity of the punches and hits, Coco and his team chose the camera angles carefully. In some photos, they’re seen reviewing the takes.

In one snap, he’s wearing a Black Ops costume while examining the takes. This is how Coco weaves magic as both the hero and director.

But not without sharing some light moments with his co-stars! Here’s Coco taking a break with Richard and Val Iglesias, who played Lito’s right-hand man Turo, also one of the casualties in the crossfire.

Of course, it can’t be denied that Richard’s acting and strong on-screen presence added punch in the whole story. In a short clip, Dreamscape Entertainment thanked the actor for being part of the show.

Don’t miss out on more action and drama as new characters enter FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano, shown weeknights, on Kapamilya Channel, Kapamilya Online Live, and A2Z.
