Peru’s Maido tops World’s 50 Best Restaurants 2025 list

Maido is named The World’s 50 Best Restaurants in 2025. HandoutPeru’s Maido, led by chef Mitsuhara “Micha” Tsumura, has been named The World’s Best Restaurant 2025. It succeeds the 2024 winner, Barcelona’s Disfrutar, which now joins the other past World’s 50 Best top-ranked restaurants in the Best of the Best Hall of Fame.
The 2025 recipients of one of the restaurant world’s most influential global awards, the San Pellegrino sponsored World’s 50 Best list, were announced at a ceremony held last July 19, 2025 in Turin, Region of Piedmont, Italy. The live awards ceremony that was hosted at Lingotto Fiere honored the world’s best gastronomic talents from a total of 22 territories across the continents, with 10 new restaurants entering the list for the first time.

Following Maido in this year’s ranking is Spain’s Asador Etxebbari in Atxondo, Spain at No. 2, and Mexico’s Quintonil at No. 3.

Sorn, the newly minted three Michelin stars fine dining temple for Southern Thai Cuisine led by Chef-Owner Ice Supangkorn, is at No. 17; the Suhring twins’ German fine dining haven at No. 22; and Chef Ton Tassanakajohn’s Le Du at No. 30. Joining these are two new entries — Potong enters the list at No. 13 and bagging the “Highest Climber Award”, while Nusara joins as a new entry at No. 35, making Chef Ton the first solo chef to have two restaurants on the World’s 50 Best list at the same time.

Two of Hong Kong’s most difficult to book restaurants made the list again this year with Chef Vicky Cheng’s Wing (No. 11) also bagging the Gin Mare Art of Hospitality Award, and low-key Chef-Owner Danny Yip’s The Chairman coming in at No. 19.
