Ivana Alawi and Aya Fernandez are giving us good entertainment as rivals in the trending Kapamilya series “A Family Affair.” The former plays Cherry Red, a close friend of the Estrella brothers, also Dave (Sam Milby)’s first love, and Paco (Gerald Anderson)’s wife. Meanwhile, Aya is Becca, Dave’s girlfriend, who struggles to win his complete affection because he obviously still can’t get over Cherry.

Don’t be fooled by their fierce confrontations on the show because, behind the scenes, their friendship is blooming.

In a past episode of Kapamilya Chat, Aya admitted they had wrong impressions about each other, “Sa kanya, ‘yung first impression ko, akala ko parang medyo masungit.” But, as the first two girls in the bubble, they found each other akin to classmates making friends on the first school day, and their ‘sisterhood’ came off naturally from there.

“I love Ivana so much. I feel like iba rin talaga ‘yung connection kasi ‘pag babae sa babae. Merong girl talks, ganyan,” gushed Aya, who praises Ivana for her generosity and sparky energy on the set.

Ivana projects herself as a sexy actress while Aya, a former beauty queen, is expected to act prim and proper at all times. Off-cam, though, they are equally bubbly. They’re game for any adventure. Prior to filming, they went hiking with the Estrella brothers, sans Jake. Although a first-timer and she didn’t expect it to be that difficult, Ivana enjoyed her co-stars’ company.

The duo is also known for their golden hearts. Ivana conducts philanthropic content for her vlogs such as distributing relief packs for typhoon survivors and giving gifts to the homeless among many others. Meanwhile, Aya advocates sustainable development, livelihood, and youth and women empowerment. She is the founder of Project Lily, a social enterprise which grants the marginalized sector, especially PWDs, livelihood through making charcoal out of lilies and coconut wastes.

Wow. We wish Aya and Ivana’s friendship lasts a long, long time because we believe they can do so much as a tandem!
