Handwashing is one of the best ways to help prevent the spread of viruses and diseases, acting as the body's first line of defense. When people do not wash their hands frequently, bacteria may multiply fast and in high amounts. Especially during these times with the community on a heightened health alert, everyone may stay clean, healthy, and germ-free by knowing how to do regular and proper handwashing.

At Procter & Gamble, Safeguard wants to make sure that everyone is safe by reinforcing its SAFEWash movement. This aims to promote, remind, and give importance to proper handwashing, as well as to help protect Filipinos as the country slowly reopens the economy.

The SAFEWash movement, which was launched last year, gives organizations and individuals a chance to work together to create a bigger impact in spreading the importance of handwashing. It also intends to teach Filipino families the value of health and hygiene.

In addition to P&G's commitment to becoming a force for good for all Filipinos, Safeguard donated a total of over P100 million worth of support to accelerate its support in giving Filipinos the protection that they need from germs and viruses. This donation ramps up the SAFEWash movement and supports its beneficiaries in their fight against the current rise in cases brought by the new variant.

The P100 million donation includes medical gear, hygiene product kits, monetary aid, PPEs, face masks, and ventilators. These were distributed to various government agencies such as the OVP, DOH, IATF, PNP, select hospitals, and vaccine hubs nationwide.

The brand's contribution is not only meant to help strengthen proper hand hygiene education, but looking at the big picture, it is to make the community a safe place especially for everyone who is put at risk every day. It is also promoting how others may be proactive in extending help where it is needed.

"Safeguard believes in helping protect every Filipino family through quality products that fight the spread of germs and illnesses. If everyone plays their part by practicing minimum health protocols, frequent handwashing being one of them, we can help protect those around us as well," shared Jan Jizelle Ang, Senior Brand Director for Safeguard Philippines. "At Safeguard, we are one with our partners in helping the country reopen to a safer normal."

Safeguard, being one of the trusted antibacterial soap brands for more than 55 years, is committed to supporting LGUs and the Department of Health in preparing the country for a hopeful reopening.

The day-to-day fight against viruses and diseases is also advocated through Safeguard's germ-fighting products – from bars and liquid soaps to body wash.

Over the past months, the brand has partnered with the Manila Water Foundation to construct handwashing facilities and provide hand soaps and sanitizers to public spaces in Metro Manila. Sets of handwashing facilities and sinks were also constructed in different hospitals to help provide support to medical frontliners and hospital workers.

Furthermore, the brand has partnered with malls by distributing hand sanitizers and liquid hand soap to help remind everyone to wash and keep their hands clean everywhere they go. E-commerce delivery riders were also given Safeguard sanitizers to ensure that delivery riders are knowledgeable about proper hand hygiene practices.

As the nation continues to fight for a safe normal for the community, the brand urges Filipinos to not forget that proper handwashing is one of the best ways to help protect themselves and their families from getting sick.
