Kathyrn Bernardo isn’t called “Asia’s Superstar” for nothing. At the young age of 26 years old, she has gone through several roles where she proved her versatility and sheer talent as an actress. And after almost two decades in the industry, Kathryn continues to be one of the country’s premier actresses.

This Kapamilya Spotlight lets us look back on Kathryn’s television journey.

Kathryn’s acting career began way back in 2003 with the role of a young Cielo on John Lloyd and Bea Alonzo’s “It Might Be You.” While it was a minor role, it was definitely a stepping-stone for a young Kathryn.

In the succeeding years, she continued to impress audiences with how she carried herself as part of supporting casts. In “Krystala,” which starred Queen of Filipino Soap Opera Judy Ann Santos, Kathryn played a young ally of the superheroine and presented her energetic and bubbly personality. She was also a part of the Diamond Star Maricel Soriano’s “Vietnam Rose” to play the young version of the veteran actress, which allowed Kathryn to dip her toes in the serious drama genre.

Eventually, Kathryn’s drive as a child actress paid off. By 2006, she was cast as the young love interest of “Super Inggo” star Makisig Morales. Her tenacity and wit were given a spotlight in this role. After “Super Inggo,” projects continued to flow in and she took on parts in “Prinsesa ng Banyera,” “Maalaala Mo Kaya,” “Wansapanataym,” and “Magkaribal.”

In 2010, Kathryn began to rise higher above the rest. This was the year the classic “Mara Clara” was remade. Tasked to follow the iconic performance of Judy Ann’s Mara, all eyes were on Kathryn and she didn’t disappoint.

The following year, we met Ella on the nostalgic teen drama “Growing Up and could easily relate to her because of how Kathryn portrayed her. This was also the first show she worked on with Daniel Padilla, making the series all the more memorable.

Realizing the phenomenal pairing of Kathryn and Daniel, they were teamed up once again in “Princess and I.” But here, we fell in love with Kathryn deeper as she really built chemistry with two other leading men, Enrique Gil and Khalil Ramos, aside from Daniel. She will always be the lovely “Mikay” that three charming boys fought over.

Kathryn continued to flourish as a leading lady and artist with her succeeding roles. Playing Chichay on the rom-com series “Got To Believe is certainly a highlight in her career as she took on a more complex character and her love team with Daniel further solidified.

Soon, “Kathryn Bernardo” was a name immediately recognized in the showbiz industry, When she made a guest role on the popular afternoon drama “Be Careful With My Heart,” it was also well loved even if it was a short stint. The remake of “Pangako Sa ‘Yo” was also a huge hit and the casting of a talented actress like Kathryn contributed to its success.

While conquering the world of film, Kathryn still continued to explore more challenging roles in the teleserye scene. In 2017, she starred in the fantasy drama “La Luna Sangre” playing Malia, a hybrid vampire-werewolf.
