Along with Ali (Kathryn Bernardo), we viewers were ready to forgive Joey (Keempee de Leon) when he returned to her life after more than a decade. We thought it was going to be the part where the estranged father seeks redemption and tries to make up for the lost time. Joey entered the show as the kind stranger who saved Pat (Bianca de Vera) from a con man. When he met Ali at the police station, the latter’s emotional baggage got heavier. He thought she forgot, but Ali sure remembers every bit about him and the pain he brought into her life.

A flashback scene reveals that she caught him cheating with his second family, abandoning her and Margie (Gelli de Belen). His reappearance shattered the peace and happiness that Ali and Margie worked hard for, wreaking havoc in their already quiet life. It took them a lot of time to move on from the betrayal but Joey showing up without warning had them reliving the past and its bitterness and pain.

And what explanation would you expect from a cheater other than playing the victim card? Joey maintained that leaving Ali was the best thing to do then and that he never stopped loving her, to which she replied that he might have missed the essence of love. For Ali, love never gets tired and love stays.

Despite Ali’s pleas to leave them alone, Joey wanted to keep a closer eye on his daughter. But his character became suspicious as the story progressed. There was a time he called his ‘Boss’ and asked for a deadline extension after Margie rejects his calls.

Through Kap Rosales (Cris Villanueva)’s investigation, they found Joey’s criminal records as a thief. Ali granted him the chance to explain himself but pressed that she will never let anyone treat her family as a substitute.

The succeeding scenes finally revealed Joey’s boss, who is none other than Helena. In a scene, he went to Helena’s house and received a lump sum for his services and tasks, which includes getting Ali’s trust. Joey explained that it’s harder than it looks, yet Helena insisted that a daughter will eventually forgive her father, as she learned from Hannah (Mickey Ferriols) and Hugo (Ronaldo Valdez)’s relationship.

The final scene in this video montage shows Joey receiving a call from a still unidentified person, then he marked Eloy (Daniel Padilla)’s photo on the newspaper, hinting that he is the next target.
