Carlos Yulo shared that it was in 2012 when he decided that he would pursue a career in gymnastics.

In an interview with Luis Manzano for the host's latest vlog, the two-time Olympic gold medalist relayed that he was inspired by a Japanese Olympian that time.

Don po ako nagsimulang mangarap," he said.

In 2016, Carlos competed in his first international gymnastics event.

"Sobrang kaba po nararamdaman ko that time," he recalled.

Carlos also recounted his experience training in Japan when he was 16 years old starting in 2016.

"Dasal po talaga that time na humingi po ako ng guidance kasi hirap na hirap po ako. And di ko po alam kung papaano ite-take 'yun ng teenager 'yung ganong sistema sa Japan like ako lang mag-isa, coach lang 'yung kasama ko. Language barrier po. Siyempre 'yung culture shock po. Lahat po, hindi lang ako sa training nahirapan pati sa personal na buhay po talaga," he said.

When asked how he felt about the overwhelming support and celebration he received from his fellow Filipinos following his Olympic wins, he replied: "Kasi naka-focus lang po talaga ako sa gold medal lang talaga.

Following his big win in Paris, Carlos received various rewards and incentives from government bodies and private organizations. How did he feel to be receiving massive rewards?

Medal po talaga," he remarked.

On what he aspires to do next, Carlos said that he wants to share his expertise and knowledge to the gymnastics community.

Carlos clinched two gold medals at the Paris Olympics for the floor exercise finals and vault finals of the men's artistic gymnastics.

He is the first athlete from the Philippines to clinch two gold medals at the Olympics.

"God is really great. I am so blessed by Him. I am well-protected and guided po sobrang thankful and grateful sa Kanya na hindi niya kami pinabayaan lahat," Carlos said in a previous interview with ABS-CBN news after winning two gold medals in Paris.

Carlos also attributed his success to Gymnastics Association of the Philippines President Cynthia Carrion who supported him on his journey as a gymnast.
