Anna Wintour among guests at Filipino designers’ exhibit in Paris by Vogue Philippines

Vogue editor Anna Wintour was among the industry leaders and guests who viewed the work of Filipino designers exhibited by Vogue Philippines through Vogue Threads in Paris.

"Conversation and connections are at the heart of Vogue Philippines, and many were woven into Vogue Threads, a night that celebrated Filipino craft and creativity at the Palais Galliera, in Paris," the magazine shared on social media.

Various guests from different industries joined the magazine in celebrating Filipino craftmanship which coincided with the second anniversary of Vogue Philippines. 

"There was Gino Gonzales touring Anna Wintour through the maquettes, designers Robert Wun and CJ Cruz in dialogue, and Chau Bui enjoying the exhibition," the magazine shared.

"The event also brought together the likes of Dr. Vicki Belo and Dr. Hayden Kho, Olympic pole vaulter EJ Obiena and Caroline Joyeux, award-winning filmmaker Isabel Sandoval as well as models Chloe Magno and Kelsey Merritt."

The exhibit showcased the creations of designers like Rita Nazareno, Carl Jan Cruz, and Mich Dulce, among others.

Vogue Philippines highlighted that the designers used local materials in producing their creations.

"Materials are our muse. Filipino designers are admirers of local materials, elevating the humble through artisanal techniques. At Vogue Threads, these maquettes showcase natural fibers and indigenous materials that have been transformed into breathtaking expressions of Filipino heritage," the magazine relayed.

Fans online were quick to express their admiration for the exhibit of the Filipino designers' creation.

"All beautiful pieces!" one fan commented.

Vogue Philippines celebrated its second anniversary in September.

For its anniversary issue, Vogue Philippines explored "our history through hair styles, and through the evolution of the Terno" as announced by the magazine upon unveiling its September issue.

In April 2023, Vogue Philippines made history as Kalinga's Apo Whang-Od became "Vogue's Oldest Ever Cover Model" as the tattoo artist became the cover star of their beauty issue at age 106.

The Philippine House of Representatives recently adopted Resolution 1949, "congratulating and commending Vogue Philippines for making history by featuring Kalinga’s Apo Whang-Od, ‘Vogue’s oldest ever cover model,’ on the cover of its April 2023 issue," as shared by Vogue Philippines editor Bea Valdes last September 18.
